“Everyone must leave something behind when he dies, my grandfather said. A child or a book or a painting or a house or a wall built or a pair of shoes made. Or a garden planted. Something your hand touched some way so your soul has somewhere to go when you die, and when people look at that tree or that flower you planted, you’re there.
It doesn’t matter what you do, he said, so long as you change something from the way it was before you touched it into something that’s like you after you take your hands away. The difference between the man who just cuts lawns and a real gardener is in the touching, he said. The lawn-cutter might just as well not have been there at all; the gardener will be there a lifetime.”
― Ray Bradbury, Fahrenheit 451
I am fortunate to be connected and to work with the most amazing individuals ever. Not only they are so inspirational and are amazing leaders but also they know how to make a difference,at professional and personal level the utmost. Two of the traits these individual posses came from within and the way they touch people on daily basis is unforgettable hence I am talking about individuality and influence. When people like their jobs, their mindset is evolving and become a positive channel of creativity.Their views concerning the daily happenings of the world and even of their personal lives hugely determines for an individual the state of the world he or she is living in as well as his/her being. Therefore, one important lesson which can be learnt in life is the significance of the things we focus on. When a person thinks about failure, he or she will definitely find reasons to certainly succumb to it.But when a person is determined to make a difference he/she will find a way to change the world. They merely think about the legacy they want to leave behind and they act in a very humble way.
We all are victims of our daily life and often we are trapped into our major problems e.g.securing a job, finding money to pay our bills, looking after our families or even going through hardship and struggle. We all have fallen victim to the rat race when people compete with each other for power and money.Nevertheless our actions are becoming the most powerful force available to humanity. We can choose to use this force constructively or using in a very destructive way. Our actions have power with the ability to help, to heal, to hinder, to hurt, to harm, to humiliate and to humble. And lately I have experienced these actions in both ways, positive and negative.
We often ask if our action will make a difference,if they are strong and powerful enough to make a footprint in the sand or in another word to impact people lives.
Today, unexpected acts of kindness are so rare that they easily go viral on the internet and make headlines. But these stories of people being selfless are a timeless reminder that reaching a helping hand to a stranger in trouble – or simply doing something nice for the sake of it – are some of the most heartwarming and fulfilling things a person can do.
And lately I watched an amazing man doing that. Not only he is a successful business man but also he is very humble. He acts in a humanitarian way and he never stops to amaze me.
His aid system, however, is under strain-buffeted by protracted emergencies at all times. He ensures that everyone needs are meet before the end of the day.
I also watched people feedings hundreds of poor people.Watched youngsters creating schools for the poor.Watching leaders making impact into their work place and ensure their work leave a legacy behind.Legacy is about reinventing the growth and how we impact others.
If people can train themselves to learn on how to really listen to others, then they can be of really much help to the society. In fact, they could improve their actions by doing good and this may as well be the ultimate end. Being humble and not requesting anything in return are fundamental factors at the core of this broad and significant pursuit. Widening ones self awareness involves discovering new truths about us as society.
What legacy do we leave behind?
Any kind of development whether personal, economic, geological, political or organisational, demands a framework for one to be able to know whether change has in reality occurred. And to start we don’t need much.Just a kind heart , an ear to listen and a willingness to act.Thats all.
